9News Movie Reviews: “Jungle Cruise” and “The Green Knight”

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – Each week, KTSM 9 News morning host J Russell takes viewers inside the Alamo Draft House East theater sits with film critic Felipa Solis to talk about the films at to come.

Join Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt on the adventure of a lifetime on “Disney’s Jungle Cruise”, a thrilling descent into the Amazon with crazed skipper Frank Wolff and intrepid researcher Dr Lily Houghton.

Lily travels from London, England to the Amazon jungle, enlisting the dubious services of Frank to guide her downstream on La Quila, his dilapidated but charming boat.

Lily is determined to discover an ancient tree with unparalleled healing abilities, possessing the power to change the future of medicine. Pushed together on this epic quest, the unlikely duo encounter countless dangers and supernatural forces, all hidden within the deceptive beauty of the lush rainforest.

Witness the jungle cruise on the 70-foot screen of the Big Show Cinema at Alamo Draft House East Cinema.

That’s not all moviegoers can see “The Green Knight”, an atmospheric journey through Arthurian England to settle his debt with the spooky Green Knight. It’s also true an adaptation of an epic, 700 years poem as it gets.

Like folklorists of millennia ago, writer / director David Lowery uses his storytelling skills to capture the elemental truth of classic legends.

The film features a lush production design, toned down by the decay of decay and death through the lens of cinematographer Andrew Droz Palermo, and set to a haunting score for the ages by Daniel Hart, that’s the best work of Lowery.
