Abrahaminte Santhathikal; A decent action movie | Movie rating: 3/5 | Abrahaminte Santhathikal

Mammootty has appeared in a few blockbuster crime films. Representing a cop is his cup of tea. The same skill led him to the character of Abraham Derick in Abrahaminte Santhathikal. Shaji Padoor incorporated fight sequences that surpass Bollywood movies, car chases, and all the elements needed to awaken audiences during his directorial debut.

Derick Abraham, son of Abraham begins to act when the law fails. Six people in two families were brutally murdered for consecutive days. The police worked day and night to catch the criminal. Yet it happened on dark and rainy days. Derick faced several challenges when the police turned the case over to him. Equally dangerous was being a hunter or a victim on this adventurous journey. He chose to become a hunter. The film progresses with the incidents that arise from his choice.

The first half of the film focuses on the history of the police family rather than the action. Derick was an officer who went above and beyond his responsibilities and his position in investigating a case. This nature won him several enemies inside and outside the department. He is a person who possesses exceptional physical and intellectual aptitudes. The way he chooses is unpredictable. This quality of Derick creates suspense in the second half of the film. The first half unfolds through two stories. This is the second story that leads to the climax.

While the film has no outstanding quality to emphasize, it will thrill audiences expecting an action movie. Shaji Padoor who worked as an assistant director under Joshiy, Shaji Kailas and Renji Panicker reminds us of all his teachers in every shot of his debut. He demonstrated the skill of an experienced director in the film.

Anson Paul, who was Abraham’s brother, did a good job. The performances of Siddique, Renji Panicker, Shyamaprasad, Kalabhavan Shajohn, Tarushi, Kaniha, Suresh Krishna, IM Vijayan and Sijoy Varghese also deserve a mention.

Alby’s cinematography is the highlight of the film. Gopi Sundar stimulated the audience with some interesting background music. We have seen movies that tell similar stories in Malayalam and Tamil. But the new style of presentation is what makes the film appealing. A storyline with many loopholes intended for simple entertainment is the film’s only downside.
