Telugu360 note 3/5
Agent Raghuveer of an Indian national security operations team from Trinetra died in 1995 during a special operation. Fast forward to 2017, his son Gopi is passionate about serving the country in similar work. Despite 174 applications, Gopi will not be selected by any agency. After being practically tested, the Trinetra agency admits him to their secret group. The terrorists who eye the agency, trap information, assassinate the organization’s senior officers. They accuse Gopi of responsible for these murders. Gopi who is on the run works at
- Find out who murdered his bosses
- Find out who is responsible for his father’s murder
Widely billed as a spy thriller, Goodachari opens in a promising way. The childhood episode of Gopi (Adivi Sesh) grounds his desire to join the security agencies. Later, when he grows up, the scene in which the secret agency tests his caliber is interesting. Once hired by Trinetra, the stages of the training phase go smoothly. Once the training phase was completed, each agent was deployed to different areas. The ex-heroine Supriya plays a key role as Madame Nadiya. Ex-Miss India Shobita Dhulipala as Sameera plays a smaller but important role as Gopi’s girlfriend. The cat-and-mouse game between terrorists and the security agency continues until a final block of confrontation interval. There’s an interesting twist here in the way the villains frame Gopi. Overall, Goodachari’s first half was treated with grip. The director has laid the right premises for the next half. The personal side of Gopi was mixed well with the main theme (National Security Agency). However, once Gopi is launched, the tight storyline goes haywire and the plot dilutes. Instead of being a spy mission, Goodachari’s theme is largely reduced to a simple story of a “fugitive on the run.” There’s a twist to cover this up, this fugitive has a double-edged sword aim. One is to hide from the police, while finding the culprits who killed his bosses. The climactic twists and the closing shot are good and lifesaving for the second half. The closing shot raises the curtains for Goodachari – 2
Due to budget constraints, the great canvas story does not get adequate production values. However, director Shashi Kiran Tikka and his tech crew have to be appreciated for providing a decent release on a budget. The background score of sricharan pakala is very good. The editing is excellent in this film, the cinematography of Shaneil is good too.
On the other hand, India’s No.1 secret agency operating out of a disguised tailoring shop, terrorists monitoring the No.1 agency’s office with such ease and grabbing all the information it needs. they need through their insiders does not seem logical, and the main villain (Name kept secret according to the wish of the manufacturers) the thread is convincing.
Adivi Sesh as a secret service agent is elegant and wise, he performed well. Shobita Dhulipala as Gopi’s girlfriend, it’s okay. Supriya has had a long role. Anish Kuruvilla, Prakash Raj have played senior agent roles, they are adequate.
Good points :
- Captivating first half
- Captivating Narration and Twists
- Smooth action episodes
Negative points :
- Budget constraints
- The graph of the second half goes down
Goodachari is a well-made action flick mixed with father-son sentiment. This movie is more like a crime investigation genre film disguised as a spy thriller. It starts on a larger canvas, as the progress moves to a smaller canvas. Nonetheless ‘Goodachari’ is a sizable effort on Telugu screen, based on ROI we have a box office winner!
