Kangana Ranaut and Arvind Swamy bring Jayalalithaa and MGR to life on screen

Ahead of Thalaivii’s release, the Kangana Ranaut star had a special screening in Hyderabad and those who managed to see her praised her brilliant performance. While Kangana’s portrayal of Jayalalithaa floored many, Arvind Swamy also appears to have left a mark with his stellar portrayal of MGR (Maruthur Gopala Ramachandran). Thalaivii, based on the life of the late Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and former actress J. Jayalalithaa, is set to hit theaters on September 10. It will be released in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. The film presents the various aspects of Jayalalithaa’s life, retracing her journey as an actress from a young age to become the face of Tamil cinema as well as the rise of the revolutionary leader who changed the course of Tamil Nadu politics. Meanwhile, Kangana praised Multiplex Channels for showing the Telugu and Tamil version of his upcoming film Thalaivii. She calls it a ray of hope. After hearing the news, Kangana, who had previously taken to Instagram to ask the owners of the multiplex for the screening of Thalaivii, said she was moved by the decision. She hopes the Hindi version of the film, based on the life of the late Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and former actress J. Jayalalithaa, will see the light of day.

Theaters are currently allowed to operate with 50% occupancy across the country as a strict guideline due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
