Shafi is a director who has followed the Siqqique-Lal genre style that has survived the changing trends of Malayalam cinema. Super hits like “Two Countries” prove the effectiveness of the hit formula Shafi applied to artists. While he had a setback in the recent movie “Sherlock Tomes”, this time he’s downgraded to a deeper level.
‘Oru Pazhaya Bomb Kadha’ is a disaster in director Shafi’s career. The film had caught the public’s attention because it starred Bibin George, one of the writers of “Amar Akbar Anthony” and “Kattappanayile Hrithik Roshan” in the lead role. But, when the film which began to focus on the challenges faced by a disabled hero switches to different topics like Maoist hunting and bomb-making training, the viewer will lose patience. It tries to cover a wide range of topics in a hurry within the 2 hour limit. The film scripted by Binil Joseph and Sunil Karma is just a jester’s game.
The film, which lacks a basic plot, is like a reality show filled with old WhatsApp jokes and Facebook trolls. The level of the spectacle is the least expected from a senior director who has made several artists. While the film tries to make it clear that the hero doesn’t have an inferiority complex about his limitations at first, the latter part of the film shows the exact opposite. The film begins with the Maoist hunt in Uttarakhand. But, the need for this scene is still unclear.
Prayaga Martin is the leading female role. She only crosses the looks of the hero and his songs. She played the role well. The performance of Kalabhavan Shajon who appears as the anti-hero was also appreciated.
